Further Development
One is currently in the process of being dismantled. A philosophy of mine is to re-use everything that I create or consume as much as possible. I've been doing this for as long as I can remember, collecting bottle caps, ring pulls, plastic bottles/containers, paper cuttings, vintage images, toilet roll tubes, boxes, tins and so on. Anything that I see inspiration in I will collect and store until the time comes to use such items. The box where love, power, wisdom and life sat is now being used for paper storage and in the future will become a planter, the stairs will also become a make-shift planter of sorts, the door will be used in my garden as a partition along with other recycled doors and window panes and the wood runners and platform have been stored until a use is found for them too. When in the research period of this project and others I came across and artist whom created a shed which transformed into a boat and it was all about the process of the artwork. Process is one of the key factors in my practice, the process of the research period, self reflection and creation of all artworks. They all have a spiritual connection to myself and hold a significant place in my soul. Since dismantling One I found myself reminiscing about the process of the build and the thought processes I went through at the time and where I was spiritually and mentally. I was in a good place and I made something that spoke to me. Now at the end of One's life, it is going to continue to support my life in other ways and will act as a reminder that anything is possible, no matter how big a concept may seem.
